Air/Water Test Columns

We have two air/water test columns for R&D purposes. The 4-ft air/water column is transparent and can hold up to 4 trays for tray hydraulics testing. The tray pressure drop, liquid holdup, tray flooding capacity, weeping and entrainment, and downcomer performance can be measured in the 4-ft column. The two-phase flow on the tray can be observed and recorded. The column can also be used to determine the packing flooding capacity and packing pressure drop. The other air/water column is 300 mm. In the near future, we will build a large 5 meter air/water column to study the tray hydraulic gradient and different tray flow path arrangements.
